đź’ś Become a Concept artist (from anywhere in Canada)

MTM College classes - now available ONLINE! ✨

Hello everyone,

We have a major update to share.

After a long time working behind the scenes to make it happen, our diploma programs at MTM College are now officially available ONLINE. 🎉🎉🎉

You can now attend all diploma program classes remotely via Google Meets, if you’re unable to relocate to Toronto or can’t be in-person every day, while still receiving the same high-quality instruction, feedback, and mentorship.

(Diploma programs are currently limited to Canadian residents.)

✦ If you want to become a concept artist, read this.

Most people trying to get into games or film hit the same wall:

They draw a lot… but don’t know what to build, how to structure a portfolio, or what studios are actually looking for.

Our Concept Art program is built specifically to solve that.

This is not a general art program.

This is a step-by-step system that takes you from fundamentals → structured design thinking → industry-level portfolio.

✦ What you actually learn at MTM

You’ll train in:

  • Character design (built for production, not just aesthetics)

  • Environment design & worldbuilding

  • Creature design

  • Digital painting + 3D workflows

  • Matte painting for film & games

  • Real studio pipelines and communication methods

But more importantly:

You learn how to think like a concept artist - how to communicate ideas clearly so a team can actually build from your work.

✦ What makes MTM different

Most schools:

  • large classes (30–100 students)

  • limited direct feedback

  • theory-heavy, unclear direction

At MTM:

  • Maximum 16 students per class (often fewer)

  • Direct one-on-one critique

  • Instructors who actively work in industry

  • A curriculum built entirely around portfolio + employability

You are not just “taking classes” - you are being trained and mentored.

✦ What results you can expect

By the end of the program, you will have:

  • A complete, industry-ready portfolio tailored to a specific role

  • Strong fundamentals (anatomy, perspective, lighting, composition)

  • The ability to design with clear intent and communication

  • Experience working in a studio-style pipeline

  • Resume, website, and portfolio ready to apply for jobs in the industry

✦ A real example

One of our graduates, Ben Kruck, is now working as a Concept Artist at Ubisoft Montreal.

What made the difference for him wasn’t just skill, it was:

  • learning how to take critique and iterate quickly

  • building work based on real production expectations

  • understanding how to communicate ideas clearly to a team

In his words, the process at MTM closely mirrors industry:

âťť

“What you did in the classroom is kind of what you're doing in the industry.”

- Ben Kruck

That’s the goal. Not just improvement, but alignment with real work.

✦ Applications are open

If you’ve been thinking about taking this seriously - this is the moment.

More later this week on our Animation and Illustration and illustration programs.

Warm regards,
