šŸ’œ You asked for this... now you can become a comic artist (from anywhere in Canada)

Tell the stories only you can tell ✨

Hello everyone,

Our latest update didn’t happen by accident, it came directly from you.

Over the past few years, we kept hearing the same thing:
ā€œI want to attend, but I can’t moveā€¦ā€
ā€œI can’t make every class in personā€¦ā€
ā€œI need something more flexible.ā€

So we listened, and we built toward a real solution.

Our diploma programs are now officially available online across Canada. You can attend classes live from home, receive direct feedback and critique, and stay connected with your instructors and classmates, without needing to relocate. It’s the same training, just more accessible.

Our Illustration program, in particular, is for a very specific kind of artist.

Someone who wants to tell stories. To create characters that feel real, build worlds people get lost in, and take an idea all the way to something finished. That’s what our Illustration and Storytelling for Sequential Arts program is built for.

There are very few programs in Canada that actually teach this process clearly. Not just how to draw comics, but how to structure them, pace them, design them, and complete them. From your first sketches to a finished, readable story.

One of our graduates, Te’Shawn Dwyer, started with a simple school project: A small idea for a story that slowly grew into something much bigger. Over time, that project became Desert Messiah, a fully realized comic he wrote and illustrated himself. That’s the shift we aim for: not just improvement, but the ability to take an idea and actually build it into something real.

At MTM, you learn how drawing, writing, and storytelling all work together. You develop character design with purpose, learn how to construct pages that flow, and build the discipline to carry a project through to completion. Just as importantly, you develop the work ethic, time management, and independence that this kind of career actually requires.

What makes the experience at MTM different is how focused it is. Our classes are small, so you get direct feedback every week. Your instructors are working professionals, and the curriculum is built around helping you produce finished, portfolio-ready work.

Now, with the online option, more people can actually access that training. That’s the real goal behind this change. Talent exists everywhere, and we want to make sure opportunity does too.

If you’ve been thinking about telling your own story, this is your starting point.

As we mentioned, we were able to make this change thanks to members of our community like YOU. We are currently working hard on deciding what to bring next to our college, based on what artists like yourself want to see.
